Here are some random photos taken over the last month and a half. We have the winter blues and are going to Kalahari this friday. (thank goodness) Jack is getting his 2nd year molars and couldn't be any crankier. Chloe is absolutely thriving at Montessori and we are so proud of her. She is still a princess and every day when she comes home from school, she dresses up in a princess dress and puts a crown on.... I am counting down the days to my weekend trip to Florida to celebrate my grandfather's 100th birthday!

We spent Thanksgiving in DC with Josh's dad and step-mom. We had a wonderful time and with it only taking 7 hrs to get there, we asked ourselves why we we don't go more often. We hope to start visiting more regularly. There is so much to do with most of it being free. Chloe and Jack had a blast and Chloe asked me if she could stay there forever. :-)

Pumpkin Patch Party

Friday night, Montessori had a Pumpkin Patch Party. All of the kids brought in a carved pumpkin which they made into a maze on the playground and lit them up. The party was full of crafts and games and the kids had a blast! Jack really enjoyed it too. Chloe was Ariel and Jack was a giraffe.

Both Jack and Chloe love to be read to and lately we have spent a lot of time reading. Jack's favorite book is Dr. Seuss's Mr Brown Can Moo, Can You?. I swear we read that book too many times to count every single day. He carries it over to you know matter what you are doing and throws it at you. (one difference between a boy and a girl I have noticed... throwing things...)

Flower Bulb Fundraiser

Yesterday we went to Cedar Point. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. Jack never fell asleep in his stroller and we were nervous as to what to expect but he did GREAT. He didn't cry the entire day and both kids even stayed awake in the car for the ride home giggling. Walking around the park I couldn't believe all of the kids we saw sacked out in wagons, strollers and even on their parents shoulders. Not ours. They fight sleep like it is the enemy.

Chloe rode her first roller coaster! I took her on The Woodstock Express in Camp Snoopy and it was much faster than I expected. She grabbed my hand tightly the whole time but she loved it. Josh took her on the Gemini Jr and she loved that as well. We definately have a rider on our hands. She will ride anything. It was a really fun day and we can't wait to go back next summer!

We took Chloe to her first baseball game. She over indulged in every treat known to mankind and we all sweated our tales off. It was so hot!! But it was a great time!

Chloe was very excited for her first day of school. She had her 'apple' dress picked out days ago and got up early and pulled it out of her closet and layed it out to wear today. She goes for about an hour a day until Tues and then starts full time. So far so good!

Pesto, the taste of summer...

One of my favorite flavors of summer is pesto. I enjoy the whole process of pesto. Cutting the basil out of my garden, bringing it inside and letting the intoxicating smells mingle together in my food processor. Yum! Toss it with some spaghetti noodles and serve at room temperature. It's so easy, simple and fresh.
Here is the recipe I have been using, thanks to the Barefoot Contessa. I usually cut this in half.
1/4 cup walnuts 1/4 cup pignolis (pine nuts) 3 tablespoons chopped garlic (9 cloves) 5 cups fresh basil leaves, packed 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 1 1/2 cups good olive oil 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan
Place the walnuts, pignolis, and garlic in the bowl of a food processor fitted with a steel blade. Process for 15 seconds. Add the basil leaves, salt, and pepper. With the processor running, slowly pour the olive oil into the bowl through the feed tube and process until the pesto is thoroughly pureed. Add the Parmesan and puree for a minute. Use right away or store the pesto in the refrigerator or freezer with a thin film of olive oil on top.
Notes: Air is the enemy of pesto. For freezing, pack it in containers with a film of oil or plastic wrap directly on top with the air pressed out.

The Four Seasons gave us a great deal on a 4 bedroom house with central air, totally renovated, view of the lake and even concierge service. LOL!! No it was great, despite how hot the house was! At least Chloe and I got to sleep on my mom and John's boat.. :)

The best part was the singing and John playing the guitar. I took a lot of photos. Also the butterfly garden. That was a huge hit with the kids and adults alike.

We had a lot of highs and lows squeezed into one week.....................

My Grandmother passed away and here is her obituary.....

WOOSTER -- Norma Jean Rhode, 90, of Wooster and Naples, Fla., died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at her home in Wooster with her family beside her.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North St., Wooster.
Friends may call Friday, Aug. 1, from 6-8 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wayne County Library, P.O. Box 1349, Wooster; or Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North St., Wooster 44691.
Norma was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Mount Eaton to Earl and Lillian (McConkey) Tschantz and married Kenneth G. Rhode of Wooster on June 2, 1940. He survives.
As an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Wooster, Norma taught Sunday school and was a member and officer of many other organizations. She was a volunteer teacher at Ida Sue School when it first opened and was an avid reader and strong supporter of the Wayne County Library. Her home was filled with books and she instilled the joy of reading in all of her family. She may be most remembered for her excellent bridge playing and enjoyed the challenge of the game throughout her life.
Norma especially enjoyed traveling and playing bridge with her good friends called the Fender Benders, otherwise lovingly known as the F.B.'s. The group included Lib Zapf, Min Owens and Miriam Morgan.
Another highlight of her later life was the Friday night dinner group which usually met at Wooster Country Club and included her husband and their good friends, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Buehler, Mr. Pete Bogner, Mrs. Cora Gigax, Mr. and Mrs. Ford Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Huntley Pierce, Dr. and Mrs. Luther High, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Weiss, and Mr. and Mrs. John Dumas.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Kenneth, are children Beth (Dave) Eberhard of Vermillion, Ruth (John) Waltman of Millersburg, Ken (Adrienne) of Flagstaff, Ariz., and John of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Shirley (Don) Tope and Ruth Putman of Massillon.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Tschantz.
Numerous extended family members were also loved and cherished by her.

A Severe Case of the Heebie Jeebies

Okay I must share what happened to me last night.... Josh and I stayed up a little later than normal watching a movie with my dad. He left and Josh went upstairs to read. I followed about 15 minutes later and Josh turned out the lights before I actually crawled into bed. I crawled into bed and put my right hand on a pillow to move it and I felt a horrible sting on the inside of my hand. I jumped out of bed and yelled at Josh to turned on the light. (Honestly-I think he was half annoyed at me since he was so tired and he thought I was being dramatic not knowing what had really happened).. OMG!!! It hurt. I could actually feel the venom going into my hand. So we were shaking out pillow cases, turning over sheets trying to find something. I was just hoping it wasn't a spider... Then we saw a large black WASP laying on the quilt. AH!!! I left the room, per Josh's request and he killed it. My hand was swollen and hurt like crazy. My adrenoline was kicking so I didn't fall asleep until midnight. I kept thinking there were more creepy crawlies in my bed. YUCK. At least it was me and not the kids! I still can't get over that Josh laid in bed for 15 minutes before I came up and did not have an 'encounter'....
What a nice way to start your slumber, eh?

Summer Festivities

Here are a group of photos from our summer. I took Chloe and my 99 year old grandfather to the circus where he treated her to her first cotton candy experience. A while ago we went to Michigan to visit family and Chloe got to visit with her cousins Ashley and Matthew. Check out their sweet sandbox custom built into their landscaping. Chloe felt like she was playing on the beach I think! Oh-and by the way....Jack is walking!

Jack turned one last week. We had dinner out with his Mimi and Granddaddy and a party at our house with his Shay-Shay, Pop-Pop, Nana, and Popsie. He didn't care much for the cake either time but he enjoyed his presents and he loved the pizza.

So as most of you know, we have a little late bloomer on our hands and Jack is not meeting his physical milestone. Within the last week or so he is really going fast doing this bizarre scooting method where one of his legs is being dragged behind him. It's as if he is a 3-legged dog with a bum leg. It is hysterical to watch and when he hits the wood floors he flies. I can't believe he turned ONE on Tues! We are having his party this Saturday.

Study: Cell Phones Could Be More Dangerous Than Cigarettes

A study by an award-winning cancer expert shows that cell phone use could kill more people than smoking, it is reported.
According to the U.K.'s Independent newspaper, the study, headed by Dr. Vini Khurana, shows that there is a growing body of evidence that using handsets for 10 years or more can double the risk of brain cancer.
Khurana — one of the world's top neurosurgeons — based his assessment on the fact that three billion people now use the phones worldwide. That is three times higher than people who smoke. Smoking kills some five million globally each year.
He warned that people should avoid using handsets whenever possible and called on the phone industry to make them safer. France and Germany have already warned against the use of mobile phones, especially by children, it is reported.
The study is said to be the most damning indictment of cell phone use. According to the Independent, cancers take at least 10 years to develop, which has influenced earlier cancer studies showing relative safety when using cell phones.

Here are some photos from this morning. We enjoyed a nice brunch with the family. I don't think we ever saw Chloe eat so much food. Both she and Jack plowed through some ham. Chloe ate almost an entire piece of pie(right alongside Popsie) among lots of other sweets. This morning she woke up to an Easter Egg Hunt which was lots of fun. Some of these photos are from this past week-we made Easter cut out cookies, we dyed eggs and I had to throw a random one of Jack playing with his truck.

Chloe was beyond excited to go to her very first ballet performance today. It was a real treat for me too. Wooster, for a small town, really does a great job with their ballet through the Wayne Center for the Arts. It still amazes me that the two women who I took ballet from almost 30 years ago are still the ones heading this up. Chloe starts creative movement in April and that is all she talks about. She really enjoyed the performance and it was LONG. Josh dozed off a time or two, but Chloe stayed very interested. I was expecting to have to leave at intermission but she really wanted to stay so we did.

On a side note, she went to Sunday School today and they learned all about Palm Sunday. After we put her to bed tonight we heard her little feet get out of bed and come to the top of the stairs and she yelled down, "Mommy-Daddy, why didn't I get to meet baby Jesus in Sunday School today?". Now that is a tough question to answer in under 3o seconds.

Today is Josh's Birthday. My mom brought lunch over from Chipotle and a cupcake with a candle and we sang to him at lunch. Then we met at Broken Rocks for dinner and homemade chocolate cake at home. Chloe was so excited and she helped me to bake the cake. It was a fun day. (if you notice, this is only 1/2 a cake-the othe 1/2 went to Popsie who turned 99 years old on the 6th)

Think Spring! That is what Chloe and I tell each other every day. She asks me all the time when winter will go bye-bye. I told her I was sorry that her parents forced her to live in Ohio and that maybe when she grows up she will move South. :-)
So with that said, we got a HUGE snow storm Saturday and were literally snowed in. This is video of us passing the time. (Sunday, Josh was able to take Chloe sledding near my old house which was great. She had a blast and this kid has no fear!)

Hair-Do's and Dresses

Here is Chloe napping on our couch. She doesn't nap anymore and very rarely ever falls asleep in the car. Maybe after her week of sickness she couldn't stay awake? She fell asleep in the car on the way home from the mall and actually stayed asleep when I transfered her inside. We couldn't believe it. I had to wake her up at 5:15 in fear that she would stay up too late at night.

Cinderella Tea Party

Today I took Chloe out to lunch - just the two of us - and then to Tea With Cinderella at the art center. Our local ballet co. is putting on a performance of Cinderella soon and today you could meet the dancers and have your picture taken with them. They also had a big spread of tea and cookies and fun treats. It was so cute. We met our friends Jewel and her mom Jen there as well. The girls were on a total sugar high and they did not want to leave.

In the beginning when everyone was sitting down eating the dancers lined up infront of the stage and Chloe said to me, "I want to be one of them Mommy. I want to wear what they are wearing and dance." The next second she hopped out of her seat and ran up to them and stood next to Cinderella and posed like she was one of them. I couldn't believe it. I snuck up front and took her picture. This girl is ready to perform!

Our laptop is kinda up. Josh still hasn't worked out all the kinks(I don't have any audio and my itunes downloads super slow and we can't figure out why. Also, all of the icons are stretched and out of proportion which is very visually disturbing......) and I am ready to take it to the geek squad but he won't let me yet. Hopefully we will get them worked out soon.
I wanted to post this recipe for cut-out cookies because it is by far the best I have ever made. Sorry to my Great Aunt Maude whose family recipe has gotten the boot. :-)
This comes from my mom's friend...
5 c sifted flour(honestly I didn't sift and it came out fine)
2 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
blend together in separate bowl
In mixer blend:
1 c butter at room temp
2 c sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
add 1 c sour cream and flour.
Chill.
Roll out thick, bake at 425(for my oven this temp was too hot so I did 4oo and I also used my convection) for 8-10 min.
Frosting:
Cream 1/3 c butter at room temp
1/8 t salt
1 c powdered sugar
1 1/2 t vanilla
gradually add 2 more c sugar with 2-3 T milk or cream.
Decorate and Enjoy!!

Laptop Down

I am in the basement posting this on my ancient 8 year old iMac. Our laptop is temporarily down as we had to wipe everything off and reload everything. We are in the process of trying to locate some drivers and until then I can't connect to the internet. So I won't be checking emails. Cold Day and Stuck Inside

Check out Chloe all glammed up with eye shadow, red lipstick and curls in her hair. We have been running out of activities today since it is too cold to go outside.
The other photos are of a fort we built and she made it her "kitchen" and stuffed it full with my tupperware, spoons, bowls etc and was cooking and baking. Can I just say that it looks like a bomb went off in here. We also made granola and baked bread. I am running out of activities so am letting her watch a princess dvd right now.

Here is Jack doing some of his exercises. Help Me Grow came to the house on Thursday to assess him and she felt that he needs further evaluation from their PT and Early Childhood Intervention Coordinator so we go tomorrow morning. Most everyone knows that he is not meeting key physical mile-stones so we are going to give him some therapy to help him get stronger and learn how to crawl. Studies show that crawling is so important as it is the first time babies use both sides of their brains at once and sometimes kids that don't crawl have problems learning in school. So you better believe that it is our mission to get this kid on all fours!

New Strategy

Anyone hear of 1-2-3 Magic? It is a book about discipline. I just received it from Amazon and Josh and I are going to try this new approach. You have to take all of the emotion and too much talking out of the process(that will be hard for me :). When they are doing a behavior you want them to stop, you say "That's 1." Then you count to five or so to yourself. You don't say anything else. Then you say "That's 2". Again count to five to yourself without saying anything to the child. and if they are still doing it-most kids will learn after a week or so of this and stop at 2. "That's 3-take 5". and you put them in time out. But you don't talk to them. Dr Keating said kids don't perform without an audience and he has 3 boys under the age of 6 and he uses this system with great success. It is an interesting concept. Chloe has been whining a lot and nothing seems to be working so I am going to give this a try. Her listening is also not the best lately. This is the author's website.

Christmas

Here are some photos from over the holiday. We had my dad, Jane and bro over Christmas Eve and did our presents then. I roasted a 20 lb turkey and we had tons of food. Then we played poker most of the evening. Typical Murphy gathering. Christmas morning was quiet with just us and then we had lunch over at my grandparent's house with my mom. Josh's mom spent the weekend with us and we celebrated with her. All in all, a great holiday. We have also been going out to eat like crazy with Chloe. She is always so excited to try new things off the menu!
I got Deceptively Delicious(Jerry Seinfeld's wife's cookbook) for my birthday and I am excited to cook out of it. I bought all the veggies yesterday and today I will be pureeing them to sneak into all kinds of things. I will keep you posted if Chloe eats them.

The Best Christmas Present Ever

Chloe is NOT allergic to peanuts anymore. She tested negative on her skin test this morning which means we can lead a normal life now. She doesn't even have to do the blood test(RAST) or a food challenge. She is one of the lucky ones.
We are so thrilled! We are going out to lunch today and taking her to the paint your own pottery store.
We will still continue to support FAAN.

Chloe's Third Birthday Party

We had C's bday party Sat afternoon. Her actually birthday is tomorrow. We had family in from out of state and we anticipated the perfect weekend. That was until both our kids got the "crud". Cleveland Children's Museum

Saturday we visited the Cleveland Children's Museum.

It was great fun to get out of the house and take the kids. Jack did great. Chloe loved it, especially the new sand exhibit. It was basically a giant sand box with a tent, a pirate ship and lots of sand toys. What kid wouldn't like that in the middle of winter?

10 Days and Counting

I know everyone is extremely busy with holiday shopping. But, we only have 10 days left until the deadline for The Food Allergy Walk, Dec 10th. Don't forget, our team name is Chloe Grace! December will be a really interesting month for our family because not only are we trying to raise money to find a cure for food allergies, but we are also getting Chloe retested December 20th. We are on pins and needles regarding her test and as a mother I find my thoughts are constantly focused on that upcoming date. Especially since the odds are overwhelmingly against us. (only 20% of children outgrow their peanut allergies....yes that is 1 in 5 so we need to find a cure!!) We are keeping our fingers crossed and praying that she outgrows it!

Down and Dirty

Sometimes you just have to let your kids get down and dirty. That was this afternoon for us! She loves to finger paint! And I really should let her do it more often than I do. It just makes such a mess. Then she was standing on her stool in the bathroom washing her hands when she let go of her bladder. Potty went all over the stool, and the rug underneath. I didn't know what to tend to first! Her paint covered arms or her wet bottom half! :-) She rarely has accidents. I felt bad for her. I kept saying "It's okay, I don't care! Everyone has accidents."

She said "Mommy, I forgot!". It broke my heart.

Now we are waiting for Jack to wake up and then we will go to the library. I am already dreading winter and these long days inside!!

Trains and Hot Chocolate

We are already bored with cabin fever on these cold winter days here lately. Especially because Jack has been taking long morning naps so we feel very cooped up. Yesterday I took her outside to kick the soccer ball but it was freezing!! It is so windy in our neighborhood and it cuts right through you. So we quickly decided that coming back inside to have hot chocolate would be a much better idea. Especially with marshmallows on top. :)

Santa On the Roof

Here are some photos from last night at Wooster's Winter Wonderland where they block off the streets and Santa appears on the roof of one of the buildings on the square. All of the store fronts have their windows decorated for Christmas and they light the big Christmas Tree. Bedroom Furniture For Sale and FREE Crib

Does anyone know of anyone who wants a free crib? It was Chloe's but she is in a big girl bed now. The crib, as you can see, is a little "worn" in with bite marks. :) We will donate it to charity if nobody shows interest.

The bedroom furniture, we decided, is too overpowering in her room. It was ours when we lived in RI and is as good as new. It is solid wood Broyhill furniture. One queen bed, mattress and boxsprings, one night stand, and a dresser. It has a distressed white finish. I love the furniture and am sorry to get rid of it but we just don't have a place for it here. It is rather large furniture so it needs a big room in my opinion. I have no idea how much Josh wants to sell it for so just let me know if you are interested and we can go from there. We may give it to his sister too. Just not sure yet so I thought I would post photos of it.

Poor Josh

Josh had his surgery Friday afternoon and everything went well. He was in a lot more pain than he expected on Saturday when he woke up. Poor guy! The Motrin wasn't quite cutting it. He did feel better last night but he is in more pain this morning and just went back to bed. It is hard having him out of commission. He is such a hands on husband and father. He hates not being able to lift the kids and help out. Hopefully by tomorrow he will feel more like himself!
We all have cabin fever. I will have to plan lots of outings for the kids this week. Chloe is going a little stir crazy. However friday night, we all watched Ratatouille. It was so cute. Chloe, who loves to cook and bake, was in heaven. She informed us that when she grows up she wants to be a chef with her on tv show on The Food Network.
Yesterday I got her a Play-Doh Kitchen toy and it has a mini oven and table and toaster. She loves it and made all kinds of creations with it yesterday.
I am off to drink some coffee and be nurse Kate.

Laptop Problems Continue

I am still having issues with my computer! I finally got it back last night after getting it serviced a second time and I think they put some wierd firewall setting on my email. I am able to receive emails but not send them. So if you have emailed me and haven't heard back that is why! I have about 8 messages sitting in my outbox.
I didn't realize how lost I am without my computer. It has been tough for me this week. I truly am addicted to cyberspace. Josh makes fun of me. But when you are home with your kids all day, it is my social outlet with other adults. I am not a good phone person so email is my thing.
Anyways, hopefully the problem will be solved today!

Oh Blog, Where Art Thou?

My laptop has been getting serviced so I have been without internet access until now. I took the kids to my mom's for the weekend while Josh helped his mom move into her new condo. My mom and I had all kinds of things planned but Chloe got sick with Croup so needless to say our weekend was not that fun. :(

She is dramatic like her mother. She was yelling saturday night, "Help Me! Help Me! I can't breathe!". We had to turn the hot shower on for her and sit in there for a while. She enjoyed lots of popsicles and tlc from her Mi-mi and myself. I was so glad to have all of the help and support from my mom. I would have gone nuts home alone.

Jack was also grumpy this weekend. He started teething again and was drooling everywhere. He also kept spitting up! Yuck!

I am posting these photos of Chloe and her two friends, Noah who just turned five and Christian who is two. They are the sons of my friend Tracy who own the Pilates Studio downtown. We enjoyed a walk at the soccer fields last week with the kids.

Oh--and the icing on the cake from the weekend was last night when I was putting Jack down I heard Josh scream from downstairs. I immediately knew something was wrong and ran downstairs. He cut his finger washing dishes on a knife. It was bleeding everywhere. So he had to go to the ER and got two stitches in his right ring finger. I guess he is warming himself up for this Friday which is his Vasectomy! ha ha! Poor Josh.

Chloe was a very cute bumblebee for Halloween. She had a blast trick-or-treating at Pop-Pop and Nana's house. She also really enjoyed handing out the candy. She got so excited to ring people's doorbells and say Trick-or-treat! We had tons of candy for her to swap out and she was fine with it. Her favorites were the suckers. She is on a sugar high tonight. Josh is trying to get her into bed as I type this and I hear lots of giggles coming from upstairs. :)

Yesterday, I attended a two hour long Yoga workshop. I have not done Yoga since I was in college. So it is no surprise that this morning I can feel every muscle in my body. It is a good soreness though. My hamstrings are so tight! But I felt so incredible afterwards, physically and mentally. The workshop was taught by my friend Tracy. She owns and operates The Studio on Liberty. I hope to attend some of her Power Yoga workouts and Yoga Pilates fusion classes in the future. I am so weak right now and I hate feeling so out of shape. Walking isn't enough for me I decided.
We had a great weekend with the kids. The weather here was beyond seasonal. 80 degrees yesterday and sunny. We took Chloe to the soccer fields twice to kick the ball around the walking path. She essentially ran two miles yesterday. Her legs were sore last night! Jack is doing great too. He has been eating more and more baby food. He is partial to sweet potatoes and pears at the moment. Definately dislikes anything green. He gags and makes horrible faces as if we were giving him poison!
Looks like we are in for another beautiful day today so we will try to spend most of it outside at the park.

Pumpkin Patch

The weekend went by fast with lots of fun activities with my family visiting from the west coast. We took the kids to Ramseyer Farms which is a great pumpkin patch and working farm. They have tons of fun fall themed activities. Check out the photos of Chloe, her cousin Jeffrey and his mom and dad - Adrienne and Kenny. My grandmother's party went off without a hitch and we even added a surprise for my Aunt Beth who turned 65. I will have to get photos from my cousin because I was so busy with the kids that I forgot to take them. :(

Halloween Cut-Out Cookies

Yesterday and Today, Chloe and I have been working on cut-out cookies in the shapes of pumpkins, ghosts, cats and bats. We frosted the cookies orange and decorated them with chocolate sprinkles this morning with my mom. Chloe did more eating than decorating though... I remember when I was little how much I loved to bake with my mom and grandmother and how much they taught me my way around the kitchen. Chloe definately has the same interest in cooking and baking - she even loves to watch The Food Network!

Notice the rolling pin my grandmother gave me. I was told it is probably more than 100 years old. It belonged to her mother.

We are having family arrive from the west coast today and tomorrow to help celebrate my grandmother's 90th birthday! My mom and I are baking the cakes, four in all. I will take photos and post them from the big event! My grandmother is amazing and continues to inspire me every day with her positive outlook on life. I have learned a lot from her, including how to make cut-out cookies!

Halloween Candy a Bye-Bye

This will be the first year we take Chloe Trick-or-Treating. Trick-or-Treating are some of my fondest memories growing up. I can remember Mary and I dressing up and going door to door in our one square block radius of Stevens-Arbor-Blessing and Grant St. And then I remember going home, throwing away the Mary Janes and Bit-oh-Honeys and then hiding it away from my brother before he would eat it all. It makes me sad to think that Chloe won't be able to eat a good bit of the candy she collects this year. But I will have a "swap" bag ready for her with peanut safe candy. She is getting to really understand more than I thought a two year old would about being allergic to peanuts so I really give her a lot of credit.
I was trying to be organized this year so bought a lot of the Halloween candy already. The main things she can have are Smarties (old school, gotta love them), Junior Mints, Cow Tales(remember those?) and Peppermint Patties. I also found some Dora lollipops. The problem is I have pretty much polished off all of it already. So I will be going back to the store to replenish our supply. I hope she doesn't get upset when I have to take the candy away from her that she collects going door to door. I am determined to make her enjoy it though so I will do my best stocking the swap bag with fun items.

Sweet Potato Soiree

We gave Jack sweet potatoes for the first time this weekend as his first veggie. Of course the first time he had them he didn't eat that much and was a bit indifferent to the experience. But tonight, he had a bowl of rice cereal and an entire jar of sweet potatoes! He couldn't open up his mouth fast enough and he was so happy to be be eating baby food. I forgot how fun (and messy :-) it is to feed a baby. He was in a much better mood than normal tonight following his dinner.

The other photo posted here is Chloe after she put her socks and shoes on all by herself. She insisted on pulling her socks all the way up like that. She looks like a 1970s soccer player! This photo was actually taken right before we went on a long walk and she dribbled the soccer ball and passed it back and forth with Josh along the entire 1.5 mile walking path. Of course we are her parents, but we think we have a little Mia Hamm on our hands. She is really coordinated and just seems like a natural with the soccer ball.

Thursday Afternoon Recap

1pm: Chloe fights nap
2pm: Give into Chloe and take her downstairs even though she is clearly very tired. (she woke up at 5am this morning.... She keeps repeating"I am not tired. I am going to stay up all night".
2:15pm: begin unloading dishwasher
2:30pm: Chloe poops her pants
3pm: put both kids in bathtub. Very interesting.
3:30pm: Put Jack down for nap, feed Chloe snack.
3:40pm forget what I was doing at 2:15 and then remember, I haven't unloaded dishwasher yet.
Think to self: "where does my time go? Why can't I get anything done?"
